Description
Softvoks is a sealing wax specially developed for sealing bottles.
It is a little softer and thinner in consistency when melted than the sealing waxes with item numbers 3272 – 3286; its softness after being applied to the object can be compared to something between cheese wax and these. The thinner consistency when melted means it can be applied in a thinner layer. This wax can be peeled off bottles with your fingers, whereas by comparison a knife is needed to remove the other type of sealing wax.
In general, you can expect to seal about twice as many bottles with Softvoks compared to the other type of sealing wax, as it is more thinly filling when melted. However, if you want a thick layer of wax, use wax as a decorative element on your bottles, or your bottles may be exposed to a few knocks before they reach the customer's table, it is best not to use Softvoks but instead the other type of wax.
Instructions for use: This product is sold only in aluminium moulds. You must therefore place the whole block in a thick-bottomed pot with a Teflon coating, or in a container in a water bath at 100 degrees, to melt off the desired amount. If you do not wish to melt the whole block, you can lift out the unmelted part once enough has melted. Dip the bottle necks in the wax and then let them dry.
Note: This wax melts at around 75 degrees but should be heated to around 100 degrees to achieve the optimal liquid consistency before the bottles are dipped in the wax. This leaves a suitable layer of glossy wax on the necks of the bottles. Melted wax that has not been used can be reheated.
This wax is easy to use, unlike certain other types of wax that have to be heated to 200 degrees in an oil bath to melt.
The individual colours can be mixed if a different colour variant is desired than the one Dansk Hjemmeproduktion has in its range.
